Kittiwakes

Caption:: The view of Mars shown here was assembled from Mars Orbiter Camera (MOC) of Mars Global Surveyor (MGS) daily global images obtained on May 12, 2003. At that time, the northern hemisphere was in early autumn, and the southern hemisphere in early spring. At the left/center of this view are the four large Tharsis volcanoes: Olympus Mons, Ascraeus Mons, Pavonis Mons, and Arsia Mons. Stretching across the center of the globe is the ~5,000 kilometers (~3,000 miles) long Valles Marineris trough system. The seasonal south polar carbon dioxide frost cap is visible at the bottom of this view. A dust storm sweeps across the plains of northern Acidalia at the upper right. North is up, east is right, sunlight illuminates the planet from the left.

Icebergs

Caption:: These icebergs are very common in Antarctica. Water, our key element for life, are mainly store in solid form in our 2 poles, iceberg is one of the form it take shape. However, owing to global warming, icebergs are melting and causing the sea level rises.

NGC 300 (19/8/2003)

Caption:: This photo is a reproduction of a colour-composite image of the nearby spiral galaxy NGC 300 and the surrounding sky field, obtained in 1999 and 2000 with the Wide-Field Imager (WFI) on the MPG/ESO 2.2-m telescope at the La Silla Observatory. Located some 7 million light-years away, the spiral galaxy NGC 300 is a beautiful representative of its class, a Milky-Way-like member of the prominent Sculptor group of galaxies in the southern constellation of that name. NGC 300 is a big object in the sky - being so close, it extends over an angle of almost 25 arcmin, only slightly less than the size of the full moon. It is also relative bright, even a small pair of binoculars will unveil this magnificent spiral galaxy as a hazy glowing patch on a dark sky background.

Omega Nebula in Infrared

Caption:: This infrared image of M17 from the 2MASS project penetrates the dust in this nebular to reveal the otherwise invisible dark molecular cloud. This giant molecular cloud (a cold, dense interstellar cloud which contains a high fraction of molecules) is one of the most luminous and active star-forming regions in the Milky Way. Although the gas in the molecular cloud is too cold to emit visible or near-infrared light, traces of the densest portions of the cloud can still be seen as dark, cloudy strucutres.
